My Summer Challenge for You!

Ahhh… the lazy days of summer! The slower pace always leads to high hopes that I will finally have more time to accomplish the things I haven’t had time to complete during the busier months.

In reality, when the weather warms up there are so many more things I want to do - like gardening, leisurely walks, day trips, vacations, and more. All of these long-awaited seasonal adventures are great, but the focus on goals set way back in January tends to disappear along with all the extra time I thought I had.

This summer, instead of having regrets in the fall, I challenge you to shift your thinking and identity one way you would like to improve yourself over the next 30 days.

Maybe you want to focus on your health, drop some weight or improve your strength. Or perhaps it's more of a mental focus - would you like to read more books, learn a new skill, or take a class? Do you need to put more time into your relationships - making the effort to call friends and relatives on a regular basis? Or establishing date nights with your significant other? Have you been wanting to get involved in your community and considered volunteering? Or do you have a need to get your finances in order or your house organized?

Whatever it is, choose one area you want to improve yourself. Commit to doing one small thing every day to move you closer to that improvement.

For example, if you want to lose weight, commit to taking a walk every day. If you want to learn a new skill, sign up for that class that would get you started. That consistent small step, every single day, will lock in that new habit. And those habits, over time, will help you in attaining the improvement you are seeking.

Here’s what I’m doing, this summer!

I have always been interested in horses. I want to learn about taking care of them and how to confidently ride. This summer, I took one small step in improving my knowledge and signed up for weekly lessons. Once a week, for an hour, I am acquiring the knowledge I have always wanted.

What area of your life do you want to improve? Take the summer challenge and commit to doing one thing for at least 30 days. Let me know what you choose!
