Declare Your Independence!

July is a time when many people reflect on and celebrate our country's freedom. Although the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, the battle for freedom went on until 1783 - an additional 7 years! The founders declared what they wanted first, freedom, and then continued to fight until that declaration became a reality in 1783.

We can learn a lesson from our founders. They were crystal clear with what they wanted and made a declaration that it was going to happen - even before it did.

What do you want? Do you have clarity on the outcomes you want to achieve? What are you passionate about? What do you dream about? Those passions and dreams were put in your mind and heart for a reason. You wouldn’t have those dreams and passions if you didn’t have the capacity to make them a reality.

In the same way that our founders declared their independence, be bold and declare what you want. Put a stake in the ground and declare you will achieve that one thing that lights you up every time you think about it. Declare that you will be healthy. Declare that you will be debt free. Declare that relationships will be restored. Declare that you will take that trip. Whatever it is that you want, declare it first and then fight to make it happen.

When the founders declared their independence, they totally believed, without a doubt, that it would come to pass. They didn’t sign the Declaration of Independence and then wait passively - hoping it would happen. They had an unshakeable belief that what they had declared would come to pass.

Be bold in your declaration and know that it will come to pass. Use that belief and that passion to take the necessary steps to make it happen. Declare your independence from any negative thoughts or limiting beliefs that may be holding you back. Affirmations and visualizations are great tools to keep the vision in front of you and to fuel your belief. That is important. But don’t stop there. Along with affirming and visualizing what you want, take action. Create a plan. Connect with people that can help. Make it a goal to do 5 things every day that will move you closer to achieving the outcome you desire.

And lastly, but most importantly, don’t give up - ever! It took the founders 7 years to realize their dream of independence. What would have happened if after year 3 they decided to quit? We certainly would be living in a very different county!! In the same way, stay focused on what you want, believe it is coming, take action, and never, ever give up.
